Preparation and Characteristics of Polysulfone Dialysis Composite Membranes Modified with Nanocrystalline Cellulose

چکیده
Composite membranes for dialysis were prepared by a Loeb-Sourirajan (L-S) phase inversion process. After adding nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), the ultrafiltration coefficient of the dialysis membrane could reach 48.37 L•m•h•mmHg. The clearance of lysozyme and urea could reach 70.25 % and 90.38 %, respectively. Simultaneously, the retention ratio of BSA could remain over 96%. Afterwards, in order to judge the hydrophilic nature of the dialysis membrane, the contact angle and surface energy were tested and calculated. And then the tensile strength and elongation ratio were measured to reflect the mechanical properties. The membranes were also observed with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to reveal the state of dispersion and dimensions of NCC. The porous structures of dialysis membrane were researched with both scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and AFM.

Resolution of Dialyzer Membrane-Associated Thrombocytopenia with Use of Cellulose Triacetate Membrane: A Case Report
Blood and dialyzer membrane interaction can cause significant thrombocytopenia through the activation of complement system. The extent of this interaction determines the biocompatibility of the membrane. Although the newer synthetic membranes have been shown to have better biocompatibility profile than the cellulose-based membranes, little is known about the difference in biocompatibility betwe...

The polysulfone-based membrane has been used in hemodialysis (HD) and it is continuously developed to maintain its sustainability on the subject of biocompatibility. During the polysulfone-based membrane development, several parameters should be considered to improve the membrane performances, such as excellent biocompatibility, appropriate ultrafiltration rate, and effective clearance of the t...

متن کاملEffect of uremia and dialysis modality on mononuclear cell apoptosis.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of both uremia itself and hemodialysis (HD) membranes on the induction of apoptosis. Four groups of subjects were evaluated: 21 nondialyzed (Non-D) patients, 10 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients, and 53 HD patients who were on hemophan, cuprophan, cellulose acetate, AN69, and polysulfone; control subjects were nine healthy...
متن کاملSynthesis of Calcium Fluoride Ultrafine Particles for the Preparation of Integral Asymmetric Cellulose Acetate/Calcium Fluoride Membranes
The present work reports on the synthesis of cellulose acetate (CA) asymmetric membranes with the incorporation of inorganic fluorides, CaF2 particles. These fillers of polymeric composites can, according to the literature, promote the ordering of the polymer matrix, which can lead to interesting permeation properties. In order to achieve that, fluorite (CaF2 ) fine particles were prepared by a...
